October Sky (1999) tells the true story of Homer Hickam, a boy from a coal-mining town in West Virginia who defies expectation and paves his way out of a seemingly predetermined life.
Inspired by the 1957 launch of Sputnik 1, Homer goes against his father’s wishes and embarks on a mission to build and launch a rocket of his own with the help of his friends and support of his teacher.
The movie runs for 1 hour & 48 minutes and is rated PG. Free Popcorn provided.
